Automation is about having technology deal with the bulk of repetitive, low value tasks we have to do, so we can use our time to work, or spend time on things that gives quality and meaning to ourselves, those we care about and our businesses (in that order! 🙂)
As I’m sitting here this morning at 6am, watering my garden and more specifically the 100 square meters of lawn, I’m reflecting on how automation helps us in our personal and business capacities. My garden provides me with so much joy as it is the place I come to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, my own little piece of paradise. So while the sprinkler I’m manually moving all over the lawn takes most of the brunt, I stare at the droplets of water wetting every single blade of grass and every shrub. There are some type of peace and satisfaction (maybe some nostalgia), to manually, properly water the lawn, all along the edges. Might be because somewhere growing up I was told that watering the edges of the lawn is very important. So here, what I spend my time on is both important, and provides me with a sense of joy, peace and satisfaction, not to mention the feeling of the soaking wet lawn beneath my feet as the day breaks! I can take time to take my run, meditate, drink my coffee and get myself in the right frame of mind for the day. Fully energized!
The Limitations of Manual Work
As the demands of my life will start increasing, I should probably further automate, by having a sprinkler system installed, with a timer, because moving this damn sprinkler all over my 100 square meters of lawn takes about 3 hours! 3 hours of my life that I didn’t need to be here and could have been somewhere else. Yes, it is something that has to be done, because it’s important to me. It however limits me, because in Cape Town, we need to finish watering our gardens before 9am, so if I want to maintain my garden I need to be here every day between 6 and 9am if I continue doing it this way. This doesn’t mean that in the mornings when I feel like taking my hose pipe out and stand bear feat on my lawn watering at daybreak, that I can’t. I just means that, I got, I got, I got, I got options! 😄
The Power of Automation
The Entrepreneur and Individuals in corporate’s Dream Come True
Automation can be a game-changer for small business owners and individuals working for corporate. By automating repetitive tasks, such as data entry, invoicing, and inventory management, you can free up valuable time to focus on more strategic and growth-oriented activities. This not only increases productivity but also allows business owners to have a better work-life balance and spend quality time on things and family the love. Additionally, automation can help streamline operations, reduce errors, and improve overall efficiency, leading to increased profitability and success.
Unlocking Time with Automation
The Value of Time Reclaimed
In my case, 3 hours a day, equates to 1095 hours or 45 days & 15 hours a year. Imagine freeing up that amount of time up in your life or that of each and every one of your employees.
